Intack Self Drive East Lancashires largest independent vehicle rental company with over 500 vehicles based in Blackburn for over 50 years are looking for the right candidate to lead our vehicle maintenance team on the next stage of our journey, with exciting future expansion plans and a workshop redevelopment of which you will have input into the design and specification.

We are looking for an experienced workshop manager or the right technician looking to make the next step in their career who will play a key role in the company’s future success. With a minimum of 5 year’s experience working on various makes and types of vehicles, you will be someone who takes pride in everything you do with a hands-on approach. Leading by example you will manage and motivate a team ensuring consistently high standards of the workshop and the service you and your team provide. 

Key Respon­sibi­lities:

  • Full responsibility for the organisation and allocation of the workshop workload fairly and within the ability of the team
  • Support the workshop team and be involved in the day-to-day servicing and maintaining of our diverse hire fleet
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools & equipment to identify vehicle issues
  • Tyre service and alignmentConduct spot checks, rectify all types of faults, controlling quality and repair
  • Maintain high levels of customer service
  • Responsible for maintaining electronic records for the vehicles and liaising with customers to schedule workshop visits
  • Breakdown scenarios, dealing with customers and breakdown providers to ensure a positive outcome and a happy customer
  • Responsibility for safe working practices and Health & Safety compliance
  • Ability to Identify technicians training needs for the teams continuous professional development

Knowledge and skills required:

  • Previous managerial experience preferred but not essential
  • Fully qualified motor vehicle technician to Level 3
  • Excellent communication skills with customers and colleagues
  • Good time management skills with a flexible approach
  • A good understanding of IT systems and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Working hours: Monday to Friday 08:30am - 17:30pm Saturdays 08:30am-12:30pm on a rota basis (1 in 3)

Salary and Benefits

  • £36,000 per year base salary
  • Unlimited profit share bonus paid quarterly (expect OTE £50,000)
  • 28 Days Holiday (increases with Service)
