The short answer is no. We need payment on a card in the driver’s name for at least the deposit. Preferably, for both the deposit and the hire charges.
Does the deposit have to be paid on my credit / debit card?
Yes, the deposit needs to be paid on a credit or debit card in the driver’s name. It’s normally taken via pre-authorisation. If the hire is for longer than 6 days though, the deposit will be banked. Pre-authorisations generally take between 5 and 7 working days to drop off, whereas banked deposits will be refunded when you return the vehicle. Don’t forget that they can often take up to 3 days to show!
Can I rent a car without a credit card?
Technically the answer is yes, but there’s no denying that you’re probably find it a lot more difficult. Many car rental companies now accept debit cars, including us here at Intack Self Drive.
