Celebrating 50 years of Intack Self Drive!

This month marks our 50th year in business here at Intack Self Drive. What started as nothing more than an idea and a humble fleet is now one of the largest privately-owned self-drive rental companies in the county of Lancashire. 

We’re proud to be able to say that over half a century later we have over than 450 vehicles to our name including cars, vans and minibuses, all available from part day rental to long term contract hire. So, in honour of our 50th year in business, let’s take a trip down memory lane! 

We’ve been serving our local community and beyond since 1973

It all started in at Intack Service Station, Blackburn in 1973. Back then, our fleet consisted of 2 vans and 3 cars, which we diligently used to serve the community for over a decade. However, after 14 years of success, we outgrew the space in 1987 and moved on our purpose-built town centre premises on Lower Audley Street where we remain today. Two this day our premises are self-contained, and even include our very own workshops, valet bays and on-site fuelling facilities for the ease of our customers. We also offer ample free parking available to our customers who wish to leave their own vehicle with us whilst hiring. 

We have the most experienced team around 

That’s not all we have to shout about either. Our owner Ken, Managing Director Rob, Finance Director Simon, and our Operations Manager Lee are all local to the community. And together with the rest of our dedicated and loyal team, we have over 150 collective years of experience in vehicle rental. That makes us the most experienced team around! So when you rent a vehicle with us, you can rest assured you’re getting only the very best service and the expertise to match. 

We make a point to send our staff out on all relevant industry training courses to keep our ability to assist our clients will all questions, queries and needs on top form. Plus, our diligent receptionists have all passed the City and Guilds vehicle rental operator skills exam with flying colours, as you’ll be able to see from the certificates that takes pride of place in our reception area. You’re welcome to pay us a visit and take a look anytime!

When it comes to vehicle hire, we’re faultless!

Additionally, for over 30 years we’ve been members of our industry trade body, the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA). And, following our last unannounced inspection we received the following feedback: ‘the Inspector could not fault the operation, he has therefore issued you with an unqualified pass’. We’ve obviously are over the moon with their findings, but not surprised - as we’ve always taken pride in our work! The BVRLA’s inspection and findings cover all aspects of our methods and systems, including vehicle condition and safety – so that’s yet another great reason to put your trust in us when you need to hire a quality vehicle.

We take pride in giving back to our local community

When we aren’t focusing on all things vehicle hire, we love to get involved with local charities and good causes to give back to our community. We regularly help out our friends at Blackburn Youth Zone and Rummage Rescuers amongst others! It’s this commitment to our work and community that’s allowed us to grow our fleet to encompass 450 vehicles, including cars, vans and minibuses, all available to rent on either part-day or long-term contracts. 

50 years on…

Now, 50 years on in 2023, we still feel the same sense of pride and commitment for serving our customers are we did when we started back in 1973. And we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate all which we have accomplished because of the hard work of our fantastic employees and the continued trust of our valued customers like you, whom we are so proud to serve.
